Poonam Bajwa is an Indian model and actress who has appeared in films in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. She made her acting debut in the Telugu film Modati Cinema in 2005, and she has since appeared in several other Telugu films, including Boss (2006). Seval was her first Tamil film (2008).

She was born in Bombay to Amarjit Singh Bajwa, a Naval Officer, and Jayalakshmi Bajwa, a Punjabi. Deepika Bajwa is her younger sister. After winning Miss Pune in 2005, she began modeling part-time while continuing her studies. When she traveled to Hyderabad for a ramp show, the director of Modati Cinema noticed her and asked if she was interested in working in movies. Despite succeeding in academics, she had passed her 12th grade and had a five-month gap before starting college, so she consented to star in his film. She graduated from Symbiosis International University in Pune with a degree in English Literature.
